About 2 months after I pulled up the ugly bushes in the front yard, Jon and I went to Home Depot to replace the barrenness (sorry, neighbors...)! After an hour at Home Depot guessing the quantity and type of plants we needed, and $140 later, we were home at 6:30 unloading the 20 plants. We knew we had 2 hours until sundown and got cracking! We got it all done in the nick of time, and I think it turned out pretty well! It needs to fill in a bit, but I think we picked a good variety! No more dirt patch in the front bed - YAY!! It's hard to see here because it was dark when I finally finished, but, you get the idea. :)

When it rains...
First, I had a dentist appointment at 11am that Jon was going to take me to! I warned him we really needed to go, but he was still talking to an employee, so I was 10 minutes late! The appointment was fine but when Jon backed out, there was a pole at the back right of the parking spot that we hit and scraped along it. The front/passenger quarter panel and part of the door is scratched/dented. I can only open my door partially and whenever we turn right the panel rubbed the tire.
Then we go to the body shop and find we have a lovely $900 bill coming our way, but the guy was very nice at least. We head to Enterprise to get a Ford Focus that vibrates when we hit 70mph (lol) with a broken armrest. When we come back to the body shop, Jon realizes that he can't find his phone. Jon + no phone = hysteria & panic. We both look in the Range and Jon is looks in the rental and freaking out and calling his phone with mine. We head back to Enterprise and they can't find it and Jon is certain that someone stole his (crappy) phone. Driving back to the office in the rental, and I suggest to Jon to call his phone again...what do you know! It's in the rental! Ugggg.
Needless to say, it's been an interesting day that I can't wait to end! Jon owes me a major massage!!!!!

Whoopies!
In my recent (numerous) drives to and from Palm Springs, I kept noticing a billboard for West Coast Whoopies (http://www.westcoastwhoopies.com/). I had never heard of these before but they looked like cupcake sandwiches and, with my love of baking, I knew that I had to research them!
After a few minutes on the internet, I found that it pretty much is a cupcake with icing in the middle instead of on top (like those little debbie oatmeal cakes probably) and I knew that I needed to try them! I really wanted to make chocolate with german chocolate filling, but Jon doesn't eat chocolate and I didn't want plain vanilla, so I decided on Angel Food cake with strawberry marshmallow filling. I just made a mix of the Angel Food cake and spooned the batter onto a cookie sheet. They really spread out and stuck to the parchment paper (I know that Angel Food cake really isn't the kind of cake to use for this, but it just sounded so good!) but I ate one and it was good. I'll make the filling once I'm done with them! It shall be interesting!
I made 12 (11 now that I ate 1) and the rest of the batter I'm making into mini-loaves just so it's not a total loss if the whoopies don't work out this time!

Darn Christi Rauth (for being too cute)!
Darn Christi Rauth (for being too cute)! Check out her blog: http://therauths.blogspot.com/ She's going to be the best wife/mommy ever.
Seriously, why am I not like that? I am very crafty too, but I haven't done anything in like 7 years. When we first got the house, we did a decent amount of decorating in the public areas (thank goodness Jon’s dad is an artist), but the other rooms I haven't done anything for. Seriously, there is nothing on the walls in my bedroom. Just a treadmill that is collecting dust since I got back from Vegas.......
I get home around 6-6:30 and play catch with Jon, walk the dogs, clean up around the house, feed the dogs, decide where to eat (because I haven't had the energy to cook and Jon's so picky), go eat, come home and it's almost 10. At this point I want to exercise, but I just ate and Jon wants to watch a movie, so we watch a movie and I put the dogs to bed. Now it's 12-12:30 and I know that I need to get to bed asap (realistically I’ll fall asleep around 1ish) so I can get up when Jon wakes me up (he needs a LOT less sleep than I do) since he's already been up for an hour and think I'm a lazy-butt. Oi vey.
I need like 4 more hours in a day to do the things I actually WANT to do, like: read, do more illustrations for my mom's book, make some jewelry, take a dance class, visit friends I've been neglecting, paint something...so many things. Doing these things I think would totally energize me. I’m an only child, I love doing stuff on my own and I have so much creativity pent up.
How do other people find the time for this? Maybe I need to cut something out of my night to make time! The only thing I can think of is the movie and that’s one of the main things Jon and I like to do together since he’s not into arts/crafts, exercise, or reading. I’ll have to think on this.
